FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

EMAIL:

March 22, 2018 (Agua Dulce, Calif.): After taking part in a legendary rally like NORRA’s Mexican 1000, it’s fitting that the awards ceremony is equally as celebrated. Navigating the length of the Baja Peninsula on your motorcycle, in your ATV, vintage race vehicle or modern race car, demands a festive moment to relax, rejoice with new friends and old, and to bask in the accolades you have earned. This year’s event will be back again at Club Campestre San Jose, but NORRA is holding the event on the day following the final stage of racing. This will allow everyone to bask in the glory a little longer at the finish line and be more relaxed, (and awake) at the awards celebration. Now that the party has been pushed back one day, NORRA staff will be preparing the party; not an outside vendor. The trophy presentations will go more smoothly, and the results will be more accurate.

Club Campestre San Jose is a private club house and has a maximum number of guests allowed, so we urge everyone to buy tickets during online registration or in Ensenada. We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available in San Jose Del Cabo.

The Party starts at 6 pm, and there will be a live Classic Rock Cover Band by the Top Catz both before and after the awards presentation. We will have a bigger stage and an LED Screen. The party will have 4 Food Stations, 4 Bar Stations, and 4 Beer and Margarita Stations to serve everyone. ICE COLD canned "Baja Blonde" beer from Cerveceria Transpeninsular and Wine from Roganto will be served. The food will be catered by Rogerio Ampudia of Stella Cucina al Forno Cabo. The celebration will also include sponsor giveaways, additional Sponsor Trophies and Awards, and the fireworks show. The party is on the beach so we recommend appropriate attire; be prepared to kick your shoes off. Team Jersey or beach party clothes are appropriate. The Venue will be open until 2am so you might also bring something warm to wear.

Don’t miss out on the festivities at the awards ceremony. NORRA's post Mexican 1000 Driver's Awards parties have been a tradition since the sport's earliest days. You will feel like you are walking down the red carpet when you arrive to food stations, a full bar, live music and special awards presentations. It’s all capped off with huge fireworks show right on the beach. We look forward to seeing you there!

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.

Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by Yokohama, Method Race Wheels, Walker Evans Racing, South Point Hotel Casino, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Multitool USA, Mastercraft/Impact Safety, P.C.I. Race Radios, Baja United Group, Ensenada Proturismo, Steel-It and many more.
