April 7, 2018 (Agua Dulce, Calif.):‘Don’t talk about it, be about it.’

At its core, Method Race Wheels lives by that mantra. A company comprised of everything from ex-racers to passionate weekend warriors, Method has been producing some of the off-road industry’s most prominent wheels for the last eight years. Method has come to offer wheels for just about any vehicle that will leave the pavement including trucks, Jeeps, SUVs, rally cars, side-by-sides and more. What makes Method so successful? Deep roots in the off road racing community. The same engineering goes into wheels for a 6,000 lb. trophy truck barreling through the desert as wheels destined for your commute & weekend explorations. On a daily basis, Method Race Wheels strives to innovate, question industry norms and bring the highest quality wheels possible to anyone looking to improve their off-road driving experience.

Method Race Wheels is not just a sponsor and supporter of the Norra Mexican 1000, they have been competitors since 2014. Kevin Fitzgerald, Bud Fitzgerald, Colbey Groom, Jake Velasco and Eric Dollente, with their families, friends, and industry associates, have all had a hand in the race effort that competes every year. The '74 F100 truck that was converted from a prerunner by Jake Velasco of JV Race Prep, has finished every year since 2015. Admiration for the NORRA event, and what it represents, is something that Method Race Wheels can’t do without. Just like their custom F100 race truck, the Mexican 1000 honors the past, while forging the future.

Many of the competitors who return every year are running on Method wheels so the sponsorship commitment is a perfect complement to their race program. Cameron Steele, overall winner in 2017, John Raptis’ VW Thing #181, Bill Hernquist’s Vintage Class 5 (Yellow & white General Tire sponsored bug), Gay Smith's VW Bug, and Boyd Jaynes, and Brian Godfrey, who have a handful of Steve McQueen memorial trophies, all compete on Method Race Wheels.

“It’s no secret that off road racing is near and dear to our hearts,” says Kevin Fitzgerald. The NORRA Mexican 1000 is always a special opportunity to trade paint with legends of our sport and our industry peers. We can’t wait to get down there.

ABOUT NORRA

Beginning in 2010, the National Off Road Racing Association (NORRA) began promoting a rebirth of the NORRA Mexican 1000 rally. The unique off-road rally was co-created by promoter Mike Pearlman to consist of special stages (unlimited speed timed stages in the dirt) linked together by controlled speed liaison / transit sections (highway). The one-of-a-kind, once-a-year, four-day rally includes vintage off-road vehicles and motorcycles, as well as modern desert Rally Raid cars, pre-runner trucks, buggies and motorcycles.

Pearlman's late father Ed and others established the first running of the NORRA Mexican 1000 off-road rally in November of 1967, which eventually became internationally recognized and evolved into the Baja 1000 in the mid-1970's.

The 2018 NORRA Mexican 1000 is supported by Yokohama, Method Race Wheels, South Point Hotel Casino, Walker Evans Racing, Bilstein Shock Absorbers, Steel-It, Multitool USA, RIGID, VP Racing Fuels, Timberline, Ensenada Proturismo, Mastercraft/Impact Safety, Cerveceria Transpeninsular, Roganto, Biltwell Inc., Schampa, Racing TraX.com, Satellite Phone Store.com, P.C.I. Race Radios, WARN, Magic Bullet, US Action Trax.com, and many more.
